We’re expecting over 220 kids,” Alex said, right before the camp started. “We’re excited. We’ve just been running around this morning and getting everything set up.”
Alex brought several NFL players back for his youth football camp at Monmouth College – Ben Jones (Titans), Cody White (Texans), Nate Eachus (Chiefs), Beau Brinkley (Bears), Nate Palmer (Packers), J Vandervelde and Tim Semisch (Dolphins) – who all signed autographs for the kids. Plus, his older brother (Mitch) is with the Denver Broncos and took part in the event. Some of the awards given out to the kids were for the Most Accurate QBs, Best Hands, Fastest 40s, Hardest Workers and Team MVPs.
Beyond all of the activities at camp, Alex had a first-year goal of raising $25,000 for Multiple Sclerosis. This fundraising effort especially hits home for Alex and his family, with his sister-in-law (Julia) battling MS.
A shout out of special thanks to Alex and Rebecca Tanny for providing this unique fundraising event for MS. I would also like to thank the NFL players that participated and Monmouth College.
Approximately 21,000 people live in Illinois with multiple sclerosis.
